Each row is a client that identified itself to /mcp: the name it gave itself and the protocol revision it asked for. A 2025-era client gives both in its initialize request, once per session; a 2026-07-28 client gives them in the _meta envelope of every request, so its row counts requests. The client chooses both, so a row shows what a piece of software says it is, not who runs it.

Every POST to /mcp counts once under its JSON-RPC method, whether the server answered it or refused it. other-method covers any method not listed, a notification, and a body that is not a JSON-RPC request. server/discover is the discovery request of the 2026-07-28 protocol revision.
How this is counted
Three things are counted at the edge: a fetch of one of this site's agent surfaces, a page served as Markdown to a client that asked for it, and a page fetched by a bot this site can name by its user agent. A page you load in a browser is not counted, and neither is one fetched by a client that did not say what it is. Each counted request is checked for a Web Bot Auth signature, and a bot's address against the ranges its operator publishes; the address is checked and discarded. A signature from a signer this site does not name is also counted by the hostname of the key directory that verified it: the operator's domain, which the operator publishes for exactly this purpose, stored alone and never beside a path, a user agent or an address. A POST to the MCP endpoint is also counted by its JSON-RPC method, and a request that identifies its client, an initialize or any request carrying the 2026-07-28 _meta envelope, by the client name and protocol revision it gives. A client name is the name of a piece of software, such as an editor or an inspector tool, and not of a person; it is stored alone, lowercased and cut to 64 characters, and nothing else in the request body is read. What is kept is a count per UTC hour — no cookies, no script in your browser, nothing that identifies you.
